A Fathers Day of Treasure Hunts

We had a "geocaching" weekend. Geocaching is where you use a handheld GPSr to find specific sites where others have left a cache that may contain treasures or just a log of those who have found the geocache. Saturday we found 2. One in Beemis Woods and the other in front of the old train station. Sunday, after our breakfast of champions, we went on 2 hunts. We weren't able to find the one in downtown Brookfield, but we did find one called "Guarded Tree" in a forest preserve close by.

After naptime, we were planning to go to the Arboretum, but it was so hot that we decided to stay home and play in the sprinkler instead. Then we did a nice dinner with the neighbors.

Starved Rock Weekend

Tired so this will be quick.

This weekend we went on a trip to Starved Rock with a group of Meg and Zach's school friends. We didn't actually make it to the state park instead we had a blast at Grizzly Jack's Water Park and indoor funground.

The Graduate

Let's just bullet point this weekend...

- Meg's Kindergarten Graduation (Zach's class also performed)

- Zach's 3rd Bday Party
- Stingray Exhibit at the Brookfield Zoo

Also this weekend, Chris took the kids to Enchanted Castle (kind of a larger scale ChuckeCheese) while I went to a scrapbook workshop.

Meg with a cicada

Welcome cicadas! We've got lots of cicadas here, but we're being told this pretty light for the 17 yr cicadas, so we're expecting more soon. Meg is loving it. She is always covered with cicadas when we go outside now.

This weekend we kept things pretty low key. Saturday's soccer game was rained out .Sunday we went to IKEA and then went to a bbq. Monday we made our very own art garden.

Wedding Bells

This weekend a close family friend, Beth Koehler, married Scott Richardson. We attended the wedding and reception in West Lafayette on Saturday. Meg's favorite part of the wedding was the "Chicken Dance". Zach's favorite part was dancing. They both enjoyed going swimming Sunday morning too.

Mother's Day Kisses

We hope all of the mothers out there had a great mothers day. We had a fun week. Wednesday Meg's class had a Mother's Luncheon. Our neighbor, Dale, went for Meg. Then Thursday Meg's class had a field trip to the Field Museum. Mom picked her up at the end of the trip and she got to visit work and ride the train home. Saturday Meg had a soccer game. Sunday we visited the Arboretum and had some friends over for dinner.

Little Artists

We had a busy week and didn't take any pictures. So lets take this opportunity to show off some of the kid's art work. The pictures to the left are from Meg. She drew them at church and then colored them in when we got home. One is a self portrait and the other is Zach in the morning.
