Today we decided to head downtown to see the planes practicing for the Chicago Air and Water Show. We visited the Federal Reserve Money Museum, Daley Plaza, Mag Mile, Fountains, Millenium Park and enjoyed the Grant Park Symphony and Chorus performing Verdi's Requiem.

Chicago Botanic Gardens

UntitledThis morning we headed north to enjoy the Gardens. We had a beautiful walk and found some areas we hadn't explored before. We had planned to hit the pool in the afternoon, but rain spoiled our plans... maybe tomorrow.

Meg enjoyed her first week of travel soccer. Of course the best part was all the cool uniforms she received at the end of the week... pictures to come soon.

Taking a Hiking in Teason Woods

Hiking Teason WoodsWe had some projects we were working on around the house, but the sky was so beautiful we had to start the day with an adventure. we packed up and headed south to Teason woods in the Forest Preserves of Cook County. We had a nice hike where the big moment was climbing the steps of the old Tobaggon runs. Apparently, they have removed the slides and put in nice steps so people come to climb the steps for a works out. We made it to the top and I can understand why people use this as a way to get your heart rate up!

On our way back to the car we saw a turkey vulture. The kidos found that to be pretty cool.

Party People

LailaBday8Friday night we took the kids to see Star Wars: Clone Wars with a couple of their friends. The kids loved it. Zach is sure that he's a jedi knight now. He and the other 2 boys were dualing with lightsabers all night.

Saturday we first went to a birthday party for one of the girls in Zach's class. The kids had fun at the splash park. At 2 we had another party. This one was a pool party with Elizabeth's work friends. Meg was quite the fish. She was in the pool almost 6 hours. We all had a great time. Around 8 we stopped by another party that featured a sing-a-long with a piano player. Unfortunately, it was late and the kids were tired so we left that party early and headed home.

It was quite the Saturday. Thank goodness Elizabeth wasn't cantoring until 9:30 Mass on Sunday. Any earlier and we would've been in trouble :)
