Opening weekend of the Play

Family of ActorsWe were excited to have lots of visitors this weekend to come see the play. Saturday after the show we celebrated Uncle Bobby's birthday. Sunday Grandpa Goellner came to see the show. All of the shows went great. Unfortunately, Meg was sick all weekend. It started with a fever Wednesday and by Sunday she had a bad ear infection in her right ear and the start of one in her left. But the show must go on and she was quite the trooper; still performing at all of the shows and resting when she wasn't on stage. We're hoping she can go to school Tuesday.

Morning Exercises

IMG_2853This weekend Chris put together Zach's trampoline that Grandpa Goellner gave him for his birthday. Zach and Meg had alot of fun jumping on it. Zach was back on it this morning while watching cartoons before school.

We don't have many pictures from this weekend, but we did alot.
  • Friday night was the St. Cletus Golf Outing. Gene and Dale watched the kids. We helped set up the raffle while the golfers finished up and joined them for dinner.
  • Saturday morning we helped paint a sign for one of our friends who turned 40.
  • Dad and Zach went to a birthday party while Meg and Mom went to a playdate.
  • That night we had alot of fun at the 40th birthday party while Meg and Zach stayed the night with Gene and Dale.

Taking the Stage

IMG_0703This weekend "Jack and the Beanstalk" opened. Our family is well represented in the play with Meg being a cute little sheep and Elizabeth playing a convincing towns person #3. Josh was in town for the auto show and a SCUBA convention so he checked out the show on Friday. For the Saturday show the cheering section included Grandma Chris, Uncle Bobby, and Kendra along with Grandpa Goellner, Gene & Dale, and of course Chris and Zach. Lastly, For the Sunday performance Meg's school friends all came bearing lots of beautiful flowers and made Meg feel very special. After the show everyone then came over to our house for pizza and smoothies. The adults rocked into the night with Guitar Hero challenges.

A busy and exhausting weekend. We are hanging around the house this President's day trying to recover.

An Early Christmas Visitor

Still walkinGrandpa Goellner drove up from St. Louis this weekend to spend some holiday time with the kids. On Thursday he saw Meg perform in her schools holiday show (click here). For Friday Elizabeth took the day off to hang out. Then Saturday we all went to the arboretum to enjoy the last bits of snow before they melted. That night we did our weekly pizza and a movie ritual. This week we watched Star Wars Episode 1. Meg and Zach got into it but Zach did say that he didn't like the guy with horns on his head (Darth Maul).

Check back on Christmas for our pictures of the kids ripping through brightly colored paper!

Happy Fourth!

Meg X RayWe had a pretty fun week! Monday, Grandma stayed with Meg while Zach went to school. They all met us downtown for dinner where we heard a Broadway in Chicago selection at the Taste of Chicago. Tuesday we said goodbye to Grandma and then went to a party at one of Meg's Kindergarten friends houses. Wednesday we went to the Brookfield Parade and then to the Nash's house. Thursday, I stayed home and took Meg swimming. Friday Meg got to come to my work. We brought everyone bagels in the morning and then went to the Taste of Chicago for lunch. Meg liked the ribs, but we've got to work on her adventurous spirit! Saturday we did another geocache in a gorgeous forest preserve in Oak Brook before their last swim lesson. After swim lessons they hung out in the splash park for a little while. It was a very hot Saturday. Sunday we are going to a small pool party which should be fun.

UPDATE: Meg fractured her wrist Sunday morning, she'll be in a cast for 4-6 weeks.

Zach's last day of swimming

Zach was still sick on Monday, but he was better by Tuesday. Thursday Meg got sick though. We got her on amoxocillin and she was feeling better in no time.

Friday night Grandpa Goellner came up for a visit. We went out for dinner and then Elizabeth went out for a 'girls night out' while Meg and the boys watched a movie at home.

Saturday we had Meg and Zach's last Saturday swim lesson. Zach did great in swimming, we'll have to look for more sessions this summer. Meg will continue with her Wednesday classes, and soccer will start filling our Saturday mornings soon.

Sunday we went to see a children's show at Navy Pier. The show was great and it was a beautiful day to walk around. We had a great time this weekend.
