Eli's Cheesecake Festival

Cheesecake ManSunday we made it back to the Eli's Cheesecake Festival. The kids played games, enjoyed some rides, and loved the cheesecake. Mom got stung in the back by a bee, but otherwise it was a good time.

Zach Goes for the Goal

IMG_4362.JPGSaturday was another busy day. We started off with soccer. Zach did great at his game. He scored another couple goals. This time he also started explaining to his teammates his strategy. "Stay inside the cones and go to the goal."

Meg also did well. As a forward she took the ball all the way to the goal, but the goalie blocked her final kick.

After lunch we went swimming and then the kids had a playdate. They met us at church to hear Mom and Dad sing in the choir. Zach was so exhausted he slept on the pew from the homily until the end of Mass.

Meg, Thanksgiving 2002

We had a water-logged weekend. It started raining Friday and finally stopped around 6pm Sunday. Our sump pump kept up pretty well, but we still had seepage so we' ve spent all weekend mopping. The soccer games were all cancelled as the fields were flooded.

So instead of a new set of pictures, we've brought back a blast from the past. Meg is 13 months old in this video.

Visit w/ Michelle

Michelle.JPGSunday we got to see an old friend of Chris', Michelle. She was in town helping renovate a school library on the south side of Chicago and run their event tomorrow. The kids had fun playing on the playground and throwing the football with Dad. It was great catching up with her and we hope she's back in town soon.

Game 1

Soccer season has started again. Zach looked like a pro. He played 2 quarters and scored 3 goals in each. Pretty amazing. He told us "See I told you I would be great at soccer". As though we had any doubt. This is Meg's first year on an all girls team. In U-7 they play on a larger field and they have goalies. Zach scored 6 goals and Meg's team scored 6 goals. Both teams won their games.

Labor Day Weekend Downtown

Meg and Zach with SkylineWe had a great Labor day weekend. Friday night we had dinner with some friends. Saturday we had a nice time at a party with all of Meg's old friends from Little Peoples. Sunday we did our big trip downtown.

Sunday morning we took the train downtown. We caught the free trolley to Navy Pier and went to the Children's Museum. We had walked to the end of Navy Pier to enjoy the view and then cooled off in the fountain in front of Navy Pier. Then we split up. Meg and Mom went to see the American Girl Revue while Dad and Zach went to the Lego store and ESPN zone. Meg was very excited to get her first American Girl Doll while Zach had a great time playing games. After we checked into the hotel (Hyatt Regency) we walked through Millennium Park and then sat and enjoyed the Chicago Jazz Festival. This was Zach's favorite part because he got another lightsaber to add to his collection. We then walked closer to Navy Pier and found a spot to watch the fireworks. Zach fell asleep as we waited, but the rest of us enjoyed them. Monday morning we went back to Millenium Park to see the bean again and play in the fountain. We then headed to the train stopping and checking out the sites along the way. Everything worked out very well.
